Beijing hospitals switch to new yellow receipts: more info, less counterfeiting

by Michael Woodhead
Beijing hospitals have switched to a new receipt system that provides more individualised information on billing and also offers more protection against counterfeiting.
According to a report in the Beijing Daily, the hospital have abandoned the old blue receipts that has a tear off slip, and now offer new yellow receipts that have more space for individualised billing information. The new receipts give separate and more detailed information on medical registration fees, medication fees and medical test and treatment fees. The new receipts also have a 10-digit barcode to make them more difficult to counterfeit, and they also include personal ID card details to deter switching of receipts. The billing system has also been likened to the tax department database, so users can go online to check that the receipts are genuine.
