Antibiotics found in the Yellow Sea

Significant levels of the antibiotics erythromycin, sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim have been found in the offshore waters of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea. Researchers from the State Key Laboratory of Organic Geochemistry, Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences say that although the concentrations were low, they nevertheless posed ecological risks  to some sensitive aquatic organisms, including Synechococcus leopoliensis and Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.
